The Hawaiian Chili Pepper … "Nīoi" is a small fiery pepper brought to the Hawaiian Islands in the early 1800’s.

Nīoi is referred to as the bird chili pepper because birds enjoy eating them and spreading the seeds throughout Hawaii.

In Hawaii “Chili Peppah Watah” was taken as a shot while drinking spirits to add a little heat.
